Published in the Journal of Adolescent Health - woo!

As a self-proclaimed life-long learner and advocate, research is very important to how I see the world. Science, philosophy, and the paradigms that we witness on a macro level stem from the research and innovation we do in micro ventures.

So, I was very excited to receive this email stating that a piece of my work has been accepted to be published in the Journal of Adolescent Health, a peer-reviewed medical journal covering adolescent health and medicine.

2 lessons I learned in this venture:

๐Ÿš€ The shorter, the better

Being precise and meticulous with language is imperative. Often, research is lost in translation with too much jargon and meta language because it's meant for a certain audience. Young people, particularly, are lost in trying to be overly sophisticated in how we convey research - not conducting, conveying. Know your audience, and adapt there.

๐Ÿ”ฌ Research epitomises meaningful work

People yearn for meaningful work that adds value to their lives, and working towards adding value to the lives of others and the majority. Research is fundamental in creating the beginning of many 'Eureka!' moments not only in science but in the minds of the readers. That is a beautiful frame of mind to take on, and the rewarding sensation that flows through you knowing that is unparalleled. Amongst everything else, take pride in your strides and contribution to the greater good.

Itโ€™s safe to say my mother was the happiest about this one hearing this news, when I told her about it (South-Asians love everything education-related).

As the mantra of this blog goes, I want to shed what I learned from this experience.

First of all, do I see myself becoming a researcher as a full-time gig. Most likely not.

Do I want research and learning new inventions to be a part of my life? Without a doubt.

Thank you to Elsevier and the Society for Adolescent Health and Medicine.

As always, there's ambition in my coffee - I hope it's in yours too!
